I want them to sell the actual book and the ebook at the same time for the same price.

I am less likely to buy just an ebook becuase I cannot resell it or trade it in or especially keep it on a bookshelf.

And I like using an ebook reader for the back-lit screen and portability. So, if I can have both for the same price, jt’s a win-win. They would sell more books and I’d buy more for
sure.

I tend to now wait for a used book store to have the book I want to read. If I could get the ebook immediately and the hard copy later, I’d buy buchu more.

The Southern Food 2010 issue was good as always. But there was single word in one article that forced me to grab my iPhone and look up the definition. I like to think I have a pretty good vocabulary, and can usually figure out for myself what a word means in context. (Caveat – unless I am reading Neal Stephenson – but that’s another thought for another time.)

Anyway, the word was “pellucid”. If someone were to ask me for a definition of pellucid, I would normally say that it is a clear and simple writing style. However, in this case it was used to describe a white paper bag. Specifically one that used to hold a chicken on a stick.

So, I think to myself,  maybe smooth, off-white. Slightly greasy and translucent? One dictionary had “clear or limpid: pellucid waters”.

No big deal. I just thought it was an interesting adjective. Perhaps the chicken grease turned the ordinary paper bag to a pellucid state. Not sure I would ever have used the word to describe a paper bag. Or any refuse for that matter.

I don’t know that I would ever be able to work that into any every-day type conversation though.

Throw in a couple of choruses to “Imagine”, and we have world peace.
